He's so drunk that fellow officers immediately remove his gun from him. When he takes a breathalyzer 3 hours later, he is still 4 times the legal limit to drive. He is fired, but a civil servant review board hears arguments from a fraternal order of police lawyer, who claims that firing officer Nicholas Gifford was unfair, because other officers had gotten DUI while off duty in their person cars, and they were not fired, so officer Gifford being ON DUTY and in his patrol car is no different.
