| Description: | To support this channels efforts: https://www.paypal.me/accountabilityangel On 2/15/22, I went to Metamora, Illinois to conduct multiple 1st amendment audits. My second stop was at the Metamora Police Department, Officer Peter Merkle began demanding my ID while I was in the process of finding out about how to file an officer misconduct complaint, even getting angry and calling backup as he attempted to intimidate me. Officer Merkle then decides to refuse me a 2nd complaint form, which was now needed due to his unlawful behavior. Eventually his backup arrived (a county sheriffs Sgt and a deputy) the Sgt, aka the highest ranking officer between the 2 departments on scene refused after many chances to correct the officer or even to simply state that I do not legally HAVE to provide the ID officer Merkle was demanding, as zero crime was committed. This behavior is what puts other officers and citizens at risk, this is why people are afraid to turn in officer misconduct. We must demand better. WE THE PEOPLE HAVE HAD ENOUGH. **Full length spoiler alert** They refused my own and access to complete my complaint forms and FOIAS....and yes, they left before I did! only after the Sgt FINALLY stopped the officer as he appeared to try to go hands on with me. Someone needs to retrain these guys.
