| Description: | I have had several prior interactions with Chief Raymond and overall I do like her as a LEO. While filing FOIA requests and asking for a complaint form at the Peru, Illinois Police Dept, I encountered Chief Sarah Raymond and Records Clerk/Dispatcher Christie DeGroot. I had no intention of doing a pop quiz but the opportunity presented itself as the Chief was right there. Sadly she felt as though she shouldn't participate, in my opinion I believe she thought I'd show her in a bad light. I show things for what they are. Luckily, Christie swooped in and saved the day. She did as well as any officer when naming the 5 elements, and she was friendly to top it off. I hope to see Chief Raymond in the future be more open to participating in a simple pop quiz, as I believe these encounters help bridge the gap between LE and the citizens. We did speak after this encounter, and I learned she had received some emails after the short clip I had previously released. No matter how you slice it, someone's going to have an issue, I personally receive attacks often via emails and comments, unfortunately that's how this world works. I am very proud of Mrs. DeGroot for participating and saving the day at PPD! Well Done, Christie! Chief, I have faith in you for next time! No running away! |
