Title: 1st amendment audit - Did they later jail the cops | Colorado ? #lawandcrime
Description: The woman's name is Yareni Rios-Gonzalez, and she is 20 years old. She was detained on suspicion of felony menacing after a report of a road rage confrontation involving a gun.
The police officers who were involved are Jordan Steinke of the Fort Lupton Police Department and Pablo Vazquez of the Platteville Police Department. They have been charged with various offenses, including criminal attempt to commit manslaughter, second degree assault, reckless endangerment, obstructing highway or other passageway, careless driving, and parking where prohibited.
The incident happened on September 16, 2022, near Platteville, north of Denver. A Platteville police officer stopped Rios-Gonzalez's truck just past a set of railroad tracks and parked the patrol vehicle on the crossing. Two Fort Lupton officers arrived and placed Rios-Gonzalez in the back of the Platteville officer's vehicle, which was then hit by a Union Pacific train traveling northbound while the officers searched her truck.
The collision was captured on body-camera and dashboard-camera footage, which shows the officers' delayed reaction to the train's horn and their failure to rescue Rios-Gonzalez from the car before the impact. The video also shows the officers' shock and distress after realizing that Rios-Gonzalez was still in the car.
Rios-Gonzalez suffered numerous injuries, including a broken arm that required surgery, nine broken ribs, a fractured sternum, and wounds to her back and head. Her attorney said that she saw the train coming and tried to get the officers' attention, but could not unlock the door with her hands behind her back.
