Title: "We Got A Call Of You Guys Recording People" #FirstAmendmentRights ????????????????
Description: For this audit , I finally got to collaborate with @sidewalks2269 where we documented outside this Bank of America location. After recording the front of the building , we made our way around the side along the public sidewalk . Some of the bank employees inside took notice of us & began waving to get us to stop. A few minutes had passed , when one of the employees approached us asking that we turn off our cameras before she continued with the encounter. I informed her that she was free to speak & that my camera would stay on. We were asked that we stop recording because there could be a breach of personal information. We continued with our recording as she went back inside. Some time had passed before Glendale Police arrived on scene. The first officer to make contact with us informed us that people were concerned about the breach of information as well & that he would be remaining on scene to make sure we weren't gathering information. Another police unit arrived on scene by this time. By this time the calling party (employees of the bank) were outside to meet with law enforcement. They then proceeded towards the rear entrance of the bank to speak with the callers in a more private setting. Eventually Torres returned, again reiterating the concern over capturing any sensitive information on the computers through the window. I then pressed him on whos responsibility it ultimately is to protect that information & create the privacy. He office eventually agreed with me. As they made their way back to their vehicles , we decided to remind the officers to buckle up before driving off & that they are the once to set the example on the roadways. So the final call? Definitly a fail for BofA for calling police & a slight pass, but leaning toward fail for the officers for first attempting to dictate where we could point our cameras while standing on the public sidewalk.
